Blashford Lakes is a series of former gravel pits surrounded by grassland, willow, birch and alder. The lakes attract Gadwall, Herons, Little Egret. In recent years Great White Egret and Bittern. Kingfishers are present all year round. The woodland has woodpeckers and a range of common woodland birds. In summer Garden Warblers and Blackcaps. In winter, feeders attract large flocks of birds giving close-up views. Grass Snakes, Common Frogs, Common Toads, Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Badgers and Foxes. Otters use the area but are rarely seen. 25 species of dragon and damselflies have been recorded. With over six cameras around the reserve, anything is possible.... |
